Cavendish Nuclear, alongside Sellafield Ltd and our Joint Venture partner Balfour Beatty, are delighted to announce that the Silo Maintenance Facility Project (SMF) won the ‘Project of the Year Award’ for Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure at last night’s APM Award Ceremony held in London.
Competing against some very strong competition, the team are over the moon to have walked away with the award. It is recognition of the achievements of this collaborative team. The project was completed on schedule and within budget and gained an NDA ‘excellent’ milestone.
Furthermore, an exemplary health and safety record was achieved with zero lost time accidents. The team worked tirelessly over the course of the project, putting in over 4 million man-hours with a peak workforce in excess of 250 people.
Fran Worthington, Sellafield Business Director for Cavendish Nuclear said;
“The Silo Maintenance Facility (SMF) Project winning the APM Project of the Year award for Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure really is the icing on the cake for the team and I am immensely proud of their achievement. SMF was up against some amazing projects and to win was recognition of the hard work and dedication that they put in.’
This award further reinforces the ‘world class’ Project Management capability that Cavendish Nuclear is focused on delivering in the nuclear sector. It also underpins the future of the civil nuclear industry in the UK providing employment opportunities for generations to come, in West Cumbria, the Warrington area and the wider industry.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this project, we are very proud of you all.
