Cavendish Nuclear Awarded Strategic EDF and Sizewell C Frameworks Role Powering UK’s Clean Energy Future

Cavendish Nuclear, a wholly owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, has been selected for three Professional Services Agreements (PSAs), through EDF Nuclear Generation, Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, strengthening its role in supporting the UK’s nuclear energy programme and new nuclear build.

The agreements, which run for five years, with an opportunity to extend for a further five, underline Cavendish Nuclear as a trusted delivery partner across both EDF and Sizewell C. The framework provides a fast-track route to deliver critical services without the need for repeated tendering, enabling greater efficiency, agility, and collaboration across the programmes.

This includes the maintenance of EDF’s existing nuclear generating reactors and support to Hinkley Point C, as well as contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of Sizewell C – a cornerstone project in the UK Government’s strategy to achieve energy security and deliver net zero.

The award reflects Cavendish Nuclear’s proven expertise across more than 60 specialist disciplines, spanning engineering and technical services, construction, quality, safety, security and assurance, commissioning, programme management and business support.

James Ewence, Cavendish Nuclear’s Business Director for Clean Energy said: “This framework recognises the depth of capability and our commitment to supporting the UK’s nuclear programme and underpinning the nation’s clean energy ambitions. It enables us to continue to work closely with EDF, both Existing Generation and Hinkley Point C, and Sizewell C, playing a key role in delivering secure, low carbon energy and positioning us as a long-term partner of choice for the UK’s nuclear future.”

Cavendish Nuclear continues to support EDF at Hinkley Point C, with a workforce of more than 900. In parallel, the organisation provides specialist capability to EDF’s existing nuclear generation fleet and is also collaborating with Sizewell C to help shape the project.
