Here we speak with Ben Makin, a developing engineer at Cavendish Nuclear.
Ben has been with Cavendish Nuclear for four years and in that time has worked extremely hard to complete his apprenticeship and Bachelor’s degree whilst working on various decommissioning projects. He studied at Bridgwater & Taunton College whilst gaining invaluable on the job experience.
As a developing engineer, Ben has not only developed academically at college but he has also progressed his skills on the job through his apprenticeship having support on hand to help him learn.
Ben is now going on to study his Masters in Mechanical engineering after successfully graduating with a first class honours degree.
Speaking of his time with us, Ben said:
“Compared to the ‘traditional’ academic route into engineering, the apprenticeship has given me the on the job learning experience that has allowed m to develop towards becoming a professional engineer.”
“Cavendish Nuclear is now supporting my studies towards a Masters in Mechanical engineering with the career aspiration of becoming a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE. Thank you to Cavendish Nuclear and Bridgwater & Taunton College for all their support!”
