Dounreay Site Decommissioning
Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) was responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the UK’s former centre of fast reactor research and development. DSRL was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cavendish Dounreay Partnership Ltd (CDP).
Dounreay is a site of around 35 construction, demolition and waste management projects, all designed to leave the site in a condition that is safe for future generations. It is recognised as the most complex nuclear site closure project in Europe. CDP has re-phased the work plan to accommodate significant additional scope while remaining within the approved funding.
“Significant efficiencies have been made at Dounreay and savings to the tax payer accrued…the PBO model has worked well on that site,”
Ed Davey, UK Energy Secretary, House of Commons, 2015.
