Sellafield joint venture wins RoSPA award

The Project Silos Maintenance Facility Delivery Team

A Cavendish Nuclear and Balfour Beatty joint venture, the Project Silos Maintenance Facility Delivery Team (SMFDT) at the Sellafield Nuclear Site, has won a prestigious award in recognition of its practices and achievements in helping ensure its workforce get home safely at the end of the working day.

The team has achieved a Commended in the Construction Engineering Industry Sector in the internationally-renowned Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards. This is the second year running the team has won the award, which was presented to representatives from the team during a ceremony at ExCeL, London on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

Barry Mayes, project director for the SMFDT, said,

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved this award for a second year running. To be recognised at the Commended level, a higher award than Gold, reflects the significant emphasis we place on promoting a safety-first culture, with safety at the heart of everything we do.”
